Bitsika started out as a simple remittance and cash payments fintech app, but earlier this month, we released a bunch of social features that evolved our app into a social payments app. This means that in addition to our traditional payments features (sending money, intra-African remittances, crypto, virtual cards, bills, etc), you can also engage social features like sharing transactions, setting up profiles, following friends and getting followed, raising funds from all users on the app, and making / reading posts on a social timeline. Our social features have been a success so far, great thanks to the many influencers who we have worked closely with from day one. These influencers promoted the app on twitter, drove sign-ups in and have provided content in the form of posts to our users. In just two weeks on the app, Kalyjay ($kalyjay) and John Dumelo ($johndumelo1) have acquired about 2,000 followers each. We expect them both to reach 10,000 followers each by the end of the year. We also have smaller influencers who have gathered hundreds of followers and are soon crossing into the thousands. Not to talk of our biggest celeb partner who is yet (but soon) to jump on the social app. We’re gradually building a social media giant here.

This rapid growth is in part due to our influencers’ influence. But the most interesting driver of follower growth on Bitsika is our Explore Page. Like any true social app, we have an Explore Page that we list our partner influencers and creators on. When new users register onto the Bitsika app, the first thing they do is to visit this Explore Page and follow as many creators as they can. Many new users follow everyone on the Explore Page. Imagine thousands of new people signing up to the Bitsika app each month, visiting the Explore Page and following the creators listed there. That’s what has been driving the follower growth.

Some of our influencers had huge followings before being listed on our app. So they were able to bring in their audiences. That was expected. The surprise was rather how creators who were much smaller (say 100 followers on Twitter) were able to quickly get 500 followers or more on Bitsika within weeks just by being listed on our Explore Page. By December they would have thousands of followers each on Bitsika, while probably not growing much more on other socials. This is far faster growth than they will ever see on Instagram, Twitter, TikTok or Facebook. We see an opportunity here.

What if we listed many (hundreds and hundreds) of small upcoming creators on our Explore Page under various categories, verified each of them (blue check mark) and put them in the position to acquire thousands of followers over the next few months?

Bitsika only has a few creators listed now. They are awesome, but to keep growing our newly launched social app, we need more content in the app, across various categories. Far more content than we have now. There also seems to be many creators and influencers out there who are struggling to grow on other social platforms and who are in need of better exposure. Do you see where I’m going with this? Let me spell it out for you.

1. Bitsika is seeking up and coming influencers and content creators looking to grow their followings quickly. We want as many as possible across various categories like Beauty & Lifestyle, Technology, Entertainment, Health & Fitness, Business & Finance, Education, Gaming, Sports, Food, Religious, Crypto, etc.
2. Bitsika will list all approved influencers onto our Explore Page. All listed creators will receive a blue verification check mark.
3. Creators will be expected to post on Bitsika daily and interact with other users on the app. Posts have to abide by our community guidelines. Creators can also promote the Bitsika app across their other socials. It’s that simple.
4. You’ve now been placed in the position to accumulate thousands of users across the next few months. Bitsika runs huge promotion campaigns that bring in thousands of new users monthly. These users will go to the Explore Page and follow you. You’ll grow naturally. To grow more, you just have to keep posting interesting wholesome content.
5. Creators give us content, we give the creators followers. Bitsika is a social payments app, so if you’re lucky (or entertaining enough) some of your new followers will dash you money right through your profile. If you’re finding trouble growing on western social apps, come grow rapidly on an African social app. Every listed creator should strive to have the most followers out of everyone.
6. We will compensate creators at the end of the year based on their performance so far. Since we’re hoping to list hundreds of creators, we can’t compensate everyone at the beginning because we just can’t assess how effective or successful each creator will be. For how many creators we list now, we will financially reward the top 10% (maximum of 50 people) who get the most followers by the end of the year. We’re looking at giving $200 each to winners.
7. Please try not to game the system by creating multiple accounts to follow yourself. We will only reward influencers with the most verified real-world users. So please aim for authentic followers.
